Took it for a run up to my cabin in tahoe today, went from sea level to 7000 feet, truck was loaded with stuff, including my yakima box on top and I got 22 mpg at an average of 82 miles an hour, this thing is truly amazing. The hills and the altitude have no effect what so ever on this thing, its incredible.

You think this kind of statement makes my decision any easier ?!! ;)

Found anyone with real life shots of the Karthoum 18's yet? The offset on the Porsche 18's from Hartman wheels is better for bigger tires though - might even allow chains and 265/65's - I think the K's will be inset just a little too much for chain use unless the tire size was closer to stock although it's only 5mm different ~52/K's and 47mm/Porsche.

Yea I figured you would read that and it would make you think again:D

I really like the Karthoum's , I have see someone with a 2007 V10 either on here or on vortex that was running a 265/65 I believe.
Here are two pictures I "stole" from another post on here. Will you post some pics of the porsche wheels your talkin about?

Yeah, last night she said if I'd bought a boat instead of the BMW R1200s last year, we'd 'have' to keep the V10 out of necessity ;) What kind of fun boat can you buy for nearly $20k?

Here's the 18" porsche wheel carried by Hartman wheels- $275. They are recommended by the Seattle Audi / VW dealer too.

Just check out their web site to see what all they have as options, offsets are listed too. I think 52 is stock for a VW T2 18". Hartmann Performance Wheels - Porsche wheels, stock replicas

Those look sweet. Just get yourself a used mastercraft ski boat or if you want to do some fishing instead of water skiing and wakeboarding, just find a used robalo or even a whaler and your in business!!

So, you are selling wife's 08 v10? (...insane) -- why not dump the Rovers and keep the v10 for yourself?

A. V10 is in owned by my business - it's mine.
B. the LR3 takes me anywhere and carries anything I want to bring along as well as providing space to sleep inside in bad conditions - the Touareg does not.
C. The LR3 costs much less and does more what I need
D. No V10 means keeping the BMW 328iT6 loaded wagon that I love and/or swapping it out with a sporty diesel or new BMW wagon coming out soon.

After my first night sleeping in the back of my 'Reg, my 6' frame was cramped... Since I solved that problem by removing the larger of the seat bottoms by detaching from the hinge. Gained me the full overhang and room to stretch. Of course that means one of my rear seat backs is permanently down -- but not so bad for me.

That's a lot of reasoning; given B, C and D, did you convince yourself on these points "after" you purchased the 08 v10?

I would punt the low-end Rovers and let the wife drive lil'Beemer station-wagon in a heartbeat an keep the fine 08 v10...but hey, whatever "cranks your tractor".

BTW: how many miles on the v10?

Hey Linder, Do you still need those parts for the Mastercraft? If you do just let me know. I'm not working @ the same place anymore but I can still get you what you need just in case.

I appreciate it Alex, I did however find some replacements that work great.

I am still getting used to how much power this thing really has, I had a little civic "rice rocket" pull up next to me at a two lane left turn signal that led to an up hill merge to one lane, he looked at me, I reached down and clicked the suspension to sport and his eyes got big as the car lowered itself. Put the car into sport, the light went green and I smoked that poor little car, he followed me to the next light and when he pulled up next to me the first words out of his mouth were, "holy sh%# that thing is fast"

I love this car
