Problem occured only when transmission was in tiptronic

Just recently took the TReg cross country from L.A. CA to Charleston SC, I must say that it was a very enjoyable drive... Any who, the problem I had was during the second day, about 4 hours of driving and the transmission was in tiptronic shift mode, the Down Hill Breaking Assist warning came on and then immediately after the ABS warning light came on. I pulled into a rest area to look in the owner’s manual to see what it meant. It didn't seem like it was going to impede us from finishing the trip so I shut the vehicle down and upon restart the fault cleared. I drove the rest of the day with the transmission in "D". The problem did not represent it self. The third day I day it happened twice both times the transmission was in tiptronic. The reason I had the transmission like this is so when the cruse control was set, it would shift all the time. Since I have the V6 some of the smaller hills make it shift a little prematurely. Has anyone else had this problem? I am trying to get as much info as I can before I take it to the dealer. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like an ABS sensor is bad -- maybe.

It's a Volkswagen!! Seriously, the HDC only works in tip (If memory serves me correct) -- so that would probably explain it.

Did it happen when you were going downhill? I think coasting downhill at some degree in Tiptronic mode is what makes the Hill Assist kick in. And I believe it has problems if you are going over 25 or so.
