My rear wiper assembly is loose (the whole assy moves).
I suspect it is the nut shown here at "1" that needs some tightening.

To get to it (to tighten it), I have to remove the wiper arm "2".
That's just where the problem comes in.
I have 'rocked' it to and throw (as per ELSAWin), with no success.
I have sprayed it with penetrating oil daily for a week.
I am careful with a hammer out of fear that I might break the glass.
There is no space to use a bearing puller.

The arm has a steel nut molded into plastic, so one cannot use to much force!

Any ideas?

Compressed butane or co2 to cool (shrink) the shaft and then try a wiggle?

Father and son, both with the surname 'Fourie', which is pronounced '4e' ;)

PS 'Pikanini' is local African language for 'Young Boy'.
Not that he is that any more!

ok knew there had to be something to it ... how cool is that !!!

Reminds me of my step-brother from Indonesia his name is Iwan but everyone calls him E1

Don't you two guys talk to each other then? ; )

I ended up sawing the wiper arm off and buggered the tapered and splined shaft that it sits on in doing so.

Calling someone a pikanini here in the UK would probably get a policeman having a chat with you about racism. Bloody crackers!

His proposal sounds like it could work but I would prefer not to use butane near the Treg. :)

I was hoping somebody had a better / alternative solution!

PS
Don't confuse 'pikanini' with the derogatory 'boy' as sometimes used in the States.
'Pikanini' is politically acceptable here, and used in an endearing manner.

We communicate here on certain solutions as it may help others and others may help us from doing something stupid.

10 heads are better than 2. :)

From memory it slides upwards for off and downwards for on.

For anyone fitting a new one, inspect if carefully BEFORE you start or you'll be going back to buy another!!

Keep Spraying it and rocking it.

Other then that, you could try to make a homemade puller if a have a few basic metal working tools available. This one that I found via google images might work.
