I wouldn't touch this car without getting an extended warranty for it - as long as you think you will drive it. There is good possibility that you will incur some costly repairs like a rear drive shaft. Of course, no one knew about these problems until some miles were put on the early models. One major repair will pay for the extended warranty.
I second this. I own a 2004 V8(VIN 44xxx) and I have the extended warranty. I had the rear driveshaft replaced and that alone paid for itself. I have had all tsb work done on it and haven't had any other problems. If you are handy, things like oil changes and brakes can be done and will save you $$. Keep in mind that parts are not cheap. With a premium vehicle comes premium parts, my brake kit cost $700-800. I saved $1100 by doing them myself, my dealer wanted 1800 for the brake job.
