Any suggestions on how to manually get the passenger window back up in a 2006 Touareg until I can get it repaired?
Did the cable break? You can tell because if you operate the switch you hear some bad crunching sounds.

Question 2, has it dropped all the way into the door? If any is visible you can just grab it and pull it up. If it gets stuck, have someone operate the switch both up and down while you pull and it should get some slack in the cable and move. The extra cable will wind around the motor's spindle, so operating it might unwind some.

Otherwise, take the door panel off, then the interior metal panel off and just cut the cable.

If you manage to get the window all the way up, lay some paper over the top of the window frame, then put duck tape over the frame and onto each side of the glass. The sticky part should be on the glass and no other part of the car.

There's a set of instructions on here that show how to get the panels off and replace the window cable. Unfortunately it's not just a scissor action like older cars. That would be too easy.

Here's the link to the regulator fix. If you don't decide to fix this yourself, at least you'll know what the process is. You'll also see how to get the door apart.

And heed the lesson that you get what you pay for. I tried to get away with the cheapie part but wound up having to get the good part from the dealer.

So, according to the noise I am hearing, my cable is broken. (So glad, cuz I thought it was the glass being crunched.)
What do I have to do to replace that? Is it just the motor? Or do I need to take the frame out to get to said cable?
Thanks.

This generation of Volkswagen loved to eat regulators. Doing window work on these is a huge pita. I've not replaced this setup in a Touareg so cannot comment.
