I have a 05 touareg i have already planned on replacing the factory headunit but while I was driving the front door speakers went out. I was already playing with the idea of replacing all the speakers already but wasnt sure but since this happened I was wondering if it would be worth it to just give it a overhaul with a new aftermarket amp and speakers, but I would like to know what kind of headache I might run into before I dive into this?

In 2004 and 2005, the cd nav system used a digital amp. If you had the factory cd nav, you will end up running new speaker wiring. It is easiest to just assume that every factory wire is useless and run all new wiring.

All other T1 and T2 (including the 2004 and 2005 with the factory radio) used an analog amp. Some typical rewiring will be needed.

To confuse things a little more, not all with CD nav had the digital amp.

The options in my build list related to nav are as follows:
RHR - radio/navigation system with color multi-function display (RNS S2) 10 speakers
7Q2 - Navigation system with colour screen
7QA - without CD/DVD for navigation
8AY - Radio/Navigation system
8RV - 10 Speakers (Passive)
