I am just wondering, why do some touaregs have the keyless entry where you press the button on the door handle to unlock the doors and some even have push button start....but others don't. Was this a special order option? I know about putting the push button start aftermarket but what about the smart key entry? I see it on 1 out of every 10-15 touaregs.(just waiting for the right one to come along)

My wife and I did that also and got stuck at the hardware store till we got the key from home.

hahahaha that must have sucked, i am definitely keeping an eye out for one with the smart key entry so that i can add the push button aftermarket if it has not been added. my dream is a black or white V8 with smart key/push button start, sienna leather, heated steering wheel, air suspension, back up cam and dynaudio.....those are my MUST HAVES lol.

To many lawsuit risks from starting the car without the key. Think child etc etc.
But the car can't start if the key is not in the car and the brake pedal has to be depressed, it the same thing as starting a car with a normal key......i completely disagree that any law suits can happen, i think its just VW bean counting. Don't forget that the infiniti fx had this option back in 2003 and it came from factory with the push button start too

No, i was saying that with keyless you always needed to press the brakes,

with a non-keyless, its random, i have seen some tregs that have it and some don't, it doesn't matter what year, what package, what color.....nothing. its all random. we went and tested a VERY early 04 treg and it had it, mine never and my current treg doesn't either.

he was stating that it was a safety thing that VW never included the push-button. i was saying that they added needing to press the brakes to start the car and you would need the key in the car regardless to start it, in other words its the same if they had a regular key, both ways requires a key and both ways can be started by children.
