Hi all. Clearly new to this. When I'm looking at parts they all seem to match a code begging in 7L. Is that the 7L in the vin or am I missing something. Thanks, Gary.

7L is the 2002-2010 Touareg model. 7LA is the 2003-2007 model. 7L6 is the 2007-2010 model. Most Touareg parts for both models start with 7L. Lots of other parts are shared across the vag group cars and will have a different part number.
When looking for parts you should take into consideration your engine and your year model.

So 7L means a Touareg 1/2 (T1/T2) part but not necessarily the right one for your model.

And and if you have the options sticker in the trunk or on the Touareg documents if you’re lucky you can get some helpful when buying parts as they will give you a complete summary of what your Treg came out with from the factory. VW uses this info to decide which parts are compatible with you car. You can decode the sticker here:
