So I've searched for this (especially considering it's probably a really stupid answer) but to no avail, and it's one of those things I really need to know because it's going to bug me all night.

It's actually my girlfriends egg, which is an '09 V6 w/ NAV and backup camera. I was playing around with that vent in the glove box and noticed there was a plug inside of there (on the top, left hand side.) It looks almost like an ipod plug, except a little larger. Does VW have some sort of ipod adapter plug that you need to buy from them?

She didn't even know about the SD card / 30gb memory for music/video in her NAV, so this would really freak her out haha.

Thanks, hopefully I'll have mine soon enough! If I get an '06 or '06 would it have this option too? ...whatever it is lol

My 04 has the little vent hole thing to route the A/C to the glove box.

If it's not a female USB port then it's where you plug either the female USB cable or Ipod adapter into. Our 2009 Passat has the same thing.
How did your girl buy such an expensive car without the dealer going through all the features with her?

This was a new feature with the 09 nav/mdi system so an 06 won't have it.

Hmm interesting, any word on what type of adapter is required? it looked similar in dimensions to an ipod port, however with a taller connector (the two rows of pins were separated by a larger piece of plastic.)

Oh and don't ask, she's not so much of an enthusiast haha. That's okay, I'm slowly converting her.

It is a USB port. You an plug in a USB key and play music, but you cannot down load the music to the hard drive from here - you have to use a SD card.
