Yes, ANOTHER oil post, but I really would appreciate some factual help.

I hear lots of horror stories about dealerships and mechanics putting in the wrong oil and for that, I want to start changing my own oil.

But, I am reading lots of conflicting information between 0W-30 506.01 and 5W-30 505.01, 507.00 and am even more confused now than when I started looking into it.

Is the oil I have bought below the best one for my engine?

Is there a different type of oil that I could be putting that provides more protection and performance for my engine? As in, are there more technological advancements?

My Treg only has 135,000km's on it and I want it to last.

I just bought two of them and they cost €45 each so want to make sure I am buying the best I can.

TIA.

VW505.01 or VW506.01.
Thanks, so it literally needs to say on the bottle: VW506.01, otherwise, it's not suitable?

Thank you for your patience.

I need to mention that I live in the South of Spain, and it's rarely cod here and the car is in a garage all year, but when I am out and about, it can get really hot between 35-45c.

I was reading that you put certain oils, for example, one type for really cold winters and different types for hot conditions.

507.00 is the wrong oil for the early R5 and V10.

This has been dealt with many times over the past decade or more.

I have a T3 3.0 V6 just using the example that the 507 spec is listed on the label as the OP asked if the 506 spec would be so sure it is suitable for his Treg.
