I've been experiencing some strange electronic gremlins recently in my 2010 TDI. I suspect it's related to the convenience module, but I'm not sure.

Issues include:

  • Alarm going off while locking the car (totally random, never consistent - sometimes the alarm will go off when tailgate closes if alarm is already enabled)
  • "Door Open" chime while driving (again, random - chimes once then goes away)
  • Cruise control buttons on steering wheel malfunction (hitting "set" while using CC should reduce setting by 1mph, instead it increases by 1mpg.)
  • "Adblue" light comes on for ~10 minutes - then goes away (this is a new one, only experienced once)

Like all of us I really like my Touareg, but these issue (particularly the alarm, embarrassing!) are getting quite annoying.

There is a thread started by Brooksie 9/24/14 about random alarms. R32REG states on 11/29/15 that there is a TSB for the comfort control module. Sierraduex states on 11/29/15 that the TSB concerns e unstable alarm module, causing it to fire often, when locking is attempted. TSB number is 2022492 re central convenience control module J393 which needs to be replaced if it's software date is earlier than Oct of 09. Dealer replaced at no cost to him and has not misfired since
