Currently away from home at a caravan park. The alarm on the 7P fired up during the evening. Whilst not in sight of the car I was probably within remote fob control distance.
Can the alarm be triggered from the fob?
I know that if locked and hooked to the caravan (it wasn’t) a change in car level or disconnecting the trailer plug will trigger it.
Also movement inside the car too (nothing I can think of in the car to cause this)
What other events trigger the alarm?

A scan of 46 will tell you what last 3? events triggered the alarm.

Depending on equipment level, the alarm can be triggered by a door/hood/trunk opening, trailer disconnect, panic button on remote pressed, glass breakage, tilt sensor when towed, ignition attempt, interior motion sensor, etc.

My key fob does not have an obvious panic alarm button (red button) so I am wondering if a panic alarm can even be generated using the fob.
I did discover a biggish moth in the car today so I am wondering if maybe that triggered the movement sensor in the car.
The joys of nature 🤣
I will scan when I get home

thanks

did the "nope rope" make it's way into the car?

(for those that don't know, Grant posted this image of his van and THE visitor, on social media the other day)

A friend's Touareg had exactly the same issue when we were staying in a caravan park in Roma QLD. Turned out his battery was faulty and needed replacing. Have your battery checked with a proper load tester - not just a multimeter.

Sadly this genuine VAG battery is not quite 3 years old and you might be correct. First crank in the morning is often slower than I expect 😳

Odd for a genuine VAG battery being only ~3 years old to be going bad, especially if coded in when installed. Some on here have reported their battery lasting upwards of 8 years.

Has it done it more than once and is it going off at the same time ?

Hi Grant. Were you hooked up? We found ours would trigger occasionally because of the movement sensor when we moved about in the van (if it's rockin', don't bother knocking...). Hitting the switch inside the door pocket before locking up stopped it. Now we can bounce around as much as we like 😆😆😆

Here in northern California, we'd look for very large footprints around the perimeter of the vehicle. Sasquatch like to sneak around in the night.

Sasquatch are considered pussies compared to the dangerous critters we have down here.
Our Dropbears would have a Sasquatch for breakfast and still come back for more.

Sasquatch v Bunyip. I know where my money is going Steve....
yep....I was working up to that by only alerting them to Drop Bears first. Save the dangerous stuff 'til later ;)

My car a 2005 3.0 tdi seems to have a problem with the alarm. If I lock the car with the remote the alarm goes off. Not immediately and sometimes won't turn off, even if I start the engine. I ran the fault codes and got alarm horn H12 01134. Any ideas would be greatly received. The alarm horn is under the e-box under the bonnet left hand side.
