Out of Stock

Amazon has the OE bulbs for 108.00 shipped next day air for the PAIR. Why pay more?
Amazon has been trying to offer these bulbs for some time now, but for months they have displayed an "out of stock" sign, further proof that whatever deal they had is not based on a reliable source of supply.

Price is of no consequence if there are none to be had.

My headlights have started winking, which I believe means that the bulbs are on their way out. If that is correct, I need some advice Q. What are my options for an OEM replacement? Phillips and Osram are names tossed around a lot here, but what are the differences in quality and price? Thanks for your help!

It's a matter of price and convenience

GQ//22,

Philips and OSRAM are the two primary patent holders and they each make superior, OEM product which replaces the original bulbs fully and correctly. I recommend replacing the bulbs as a pair from the same batch lot, i.e., bought at the same time, same brand.

I offer Philips as a direct distributor, hence the very affordable price I advertise. The thing to avoid is the vast "unwashed" Asian manufacturers who sell no-name products thru places like E-Bay, etc. at prices that seem to low to be correct, vis-a-vis the OE VW price. These products will be problematic, in the long run and analysis, unless you are lucky, or favor your odds making... buying Philips or OSRAM is not odds-making, not risky, not an ill-considered plan.

Please see the beginning of this very thread and then read on for more details on the Philips product and members responses to it.

Thank you for your question,

Regards,

Geoff

I just ordered a set for $110.62 from Amazon with free super saver shipping, and allegedly they are in stock. I have had about 75 or so positive experiences with Amazon, and had this not been offered by them directly, I would have purchased from you Geoff.

So, aside from DOT approval, what is the opinion here of the brightest whitest lights? I have the 04 with the ballast attached. I live in Windsor, Ontario so bouncing over to Detroit is only a 5 minute jot, so I dont mind getting them in Canada or USA.

Everything I've read and been told is anything over 6000k in color temperature is worthless. Over 6000k and you start to lose usable light and its going toward the purple side of things.

Whitest, brightest light is anything O.E.M or O.E like what Geoff is selling, 4300K give or take at 35w.
If you truly want the brightest, to answer your question in a nerdish, no_holds_barred(all legalities aside) way, then 4300K at 50w-55w aftermarket mod would be it ;).
