Just got back into a diesel Treg. I had a 2010 that I cashed out when VW gave me that sweet buyout check. Got a 2016 last night that had the fixes done to it. It drove very similar to my 2010 but I can't seem to find any info on what the fix did to it? If it's a significant HP TQ loss can tuning it help? Thanks for any info fellas!

Most of what you will notice while driving it is
1. The engine warmup routine is different.
2. The engine uses a lot more def fluid.
3. The gear shifts pre and post fix are different.

HP and Torque are the same before and after.

As nickyt says, plus the fact that you have a different engine from your original CATA diesel. In 2013 they changed the 3 litre Tdi, engine design, the performance effect that had was that the torque remained the same at maximum, but by putting on a slightly larger turbo, the torque developed comes in at slightly higher revs so developing a slightly higher calculated horsepower.
The net performance effect is that the maximum torque (406 ftlb) you used to get at 1800 rpm, now takes to about 2200 rpm to develop. ( All for a more Porsche-like sound that VW thought we wanted....)

Thank you Gentlemen! I wasn't aware there were changes to the model year, I thought it was just a facelift and minor changes. Just happy to be back in a Touareg, I was driving an X5 35d for the last few years and I just couldn't get past how much it made me miss the VW.

Make sure you use good quality diesel from an outlet that shifts its stock and don't run less than 1/4 full before refuelling in order to minimise the risk of HPFP when the fuel pump grenades and the entire fuel system needs replacing at a cost of up to US $16,000.

My diesel fix booklet said 2016 vehicles may experience a slight decrease in urea consumption. I think VW was trying to cover their tracks on the fly and simply turned up the urea feed rate in these later models. I've gone from about 6,000 miles per refill to maybe 7,000 miles. The latest "voluntary" recall seems to have significantly improved drivability in my car, so you may want to ensure that was completed.
