Hello,
I got my car booked in the shop on Tuesday but I was looking at this trying to figure it out. First, the car is a 2013 VW Touareg 3.6 V6 with 250,000km on the clock.
The car is making a strange noise when starting up and driving it sounds like a rattle/squeak. The noise is not constant sometimes doesn't happen for a whole journey. It's not the fan belt as when the noise is being made the fan is not on. After about 30 seconds it dies down then back to normal (as if magic). When making the noise when driving, the drive becomes very jerky. It can't be transmission or drive-related as it does it when stationary and idling but it does affect the drive when it happens. The noise sounds like it's coming from the back of the engine. I'm almost thinking it's something to do with the intake. It's an external rattle for sure it's not coming from inside the engine.
Thanks
