Water in Driver's Side Footwell (RHD Treg)

Hello, new to this forum. Have a right Hand Drive Touareg. Squelchy carpet on Drivers side. Looked at this forum. Plenty of instances to learn from but none that ultimately diagnose my issue. I've cleaned the plenum drains, which I believe were never the issue. There's no sunroof on this model so no issue there. After much pouring of water on the car with nothing obvious showing up I went through the process of removing all the carped and most of the sound proofing from the driver's side footwell for a closer look.
Eventually I spotted a droplet of water coming out from a small hole in the front RHS Pillar. Applying a cloth to this drew a lot more water out. It seems that there is water pooling in a cavity in this pillar and eventually seeps out into the carpet. Bus I don't know how it's getting in.
My last step was to put some red dye in to this pool of water to 100% confirm that when it rains the water comes out of this hole, which it does.
See the pics here attached to show the location of the incoming water..

Wondering if this ca only com in from the top of the pillar and if anyone had ever experienced this. Suggestions and help would be much appreciated!;)

Long shot here, but have you felt along the bottom of the door sill and pulled out one of the three rubber bungs under there?

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. The three drain plugs were tried alright. there was a little water initially, just from the rear plug as the Treg was parked on a slight incline, and, it was not coloured red as I was hoping for.
My next plan is to try to see which side of the Pillar the water is coming in from, (i.e. front or back). There's a bigger hole just above this leaking one which will allow me to stuff on a cloth that I can check for wet side on.

I'm assuming if front then I'll be stripping the engine bay back a little.
Pollen filter I have not yet checked yet actually, next on list.

A last resort I'm thinking is to put a hole in the bottom of this 'chamber pool' to let the water out, but I need a look at the schematics to locate the actual bottom of this chamber. + to be sure what/where if any cables or ducting might be in proximity. + that the hole would be shielded from any splash etc...

check your sunroof drains. Pour the red dyed water into the front corner of the open sunroof sill. I have a hunch that your sunroof drain tube might have slipped off the drain nipple at the corner. Then the water just runs down the A-pillar. While your up there, you should see the red dyed water coming out the drain in the front wheel well.

If that doesn't locate the leak, I would check the plenum drains. To get access, you have to pull the wipers to remove the plastic screen. Then vacuum the leaves and debris out the chamber.

Hi, I've checked the plenum drains at the wheel arch, they're clear, Pouring water on the windscreen shows it coming out freely under the wheel arch.

unfortunately... there's no sunroof. (noted in the initial text), but I have not yet ruled out water getting into the pillar from the 'roof channels' where the roof bars connect.

thanks + rgds

Hi there new to the forum, I joined because I saw this post. I have a RHD drive car with the exact same problem (2007 with 40k on the clock), I have had the arch liners off and checked all the drains and cleared all debris. but still I am getting water coming in, I have had the head lining back to check to see if the drain pipes for the sunroof have come loose.

The car is slowly being ruined by this and smells damp, I've even had a VW specialist take a look at the car and they're scratching their heads too. The next stage is to pay for them to take the dash out and I really don't want the expense or the risk of more problems resulting from such a move!

Any ideas anyone at my wits end with this now, verging on just getting rid of the car.

Thanks in advance for any advice
