Hello. I run my own business here in Ireland remapping (aka chipping / chip-tuning etc.) ECU's of mainly VAG motors.

There is a few things I would like to inform the members of this forum about the dangers of some ECU tuning.

The process begins with taken a reading from the Touareg's eprom chip that contains the "map" located inside the ECU.
Once this reading is obtained and downloaded to the computer many of the different map paremeters are altered using specialised software. Once this has been done successfully it is then uploaded back into the ECU.

^ This is the correct way to do this but unfortunately many many so called tuning companies are using cheap unknown, un-proven files which can be bought from a certain online auction site for cents and are uploading it onto customers ECU's! This is the sad reality and this is what has given remapping / chip-tuning a bad name in some parts of the world.

The dangers of uploading these unknown file into your ECU are serious.
First of all, the vin numbers / codings will no longer correspond as you will be using somebody elses map that was sold online:mad:
Limp mode can be caused by this. Limp mode is when your vehicle loses alot of its power whilst driving and can find it difficult to cross 2500rpm.

Black smoke is another symptom of a "bad" remap.

To put into context:

A bad remap is bad for a motor
A good remap is good for a motor
simple as that

I offer remaps that are only custom made for each application.
Custom remaps never go wrong. They retain the stock vin numbers, codings etc. and you are sure you know what you get.

What's better? You can tell me what you want from your remap. Do you want extra power / torque? Is your V10 drinking too much fuel do you want an economy map? Do you want your power introduced low down in the rev range or high up or spead across the whole rev range?

We also remove flat spots in every map. We also highly recommend that you opt for a power band that goes the whole way across the rev range this will help prolong the life of your turbo / clutch / flywheel etc.

Business
If you wish to avail of my remapping service and live in Ireland / UK you are most welcome to come to me directly. I am based in Co. Monaghan, Ireland. I also have Vagcom for before and after diagnostics checks.

Over the next few days I will be launching a new service for customers Worldwide. I can have Fedex / UPS collect your ECU from your location of choice and deliver it to me. I will then remap it to suit your needs and despatch it back to you via Fedex / UPS. Whilst in transit your package will be Tracked and well insured against lose or damage.
Turn around time service will be known in next few days but it will be remapped and sent back out the following day once I take receipt of it.

Prices for Touareg remapping start from $650 US Dollars (459 euro) subject to international courier costs.

Any questions or any info needed don't hesitate to ask,

Many thanks,
Aidan

Aidan, can your remaps be programed to allow removal of the DPF (diesel particulate filter)? Can you also remap to eliminate the function of the EGR valve?

I know from my local tuner that there is still no one that successfully hacked the checksum of the new 2011 models' ECU. What's the latest you know from the italians?

Yes, we have the software to allow the removal of the DPF and yes we can remap without the egr functioning.

Aidan, does the non DPF V10 make more power with your tune? Can you tune the EGR cycle out of it?

Yes it sure does produce more power. With the removal of the DPF you gain a better free flow of the exhaust gases so yes you will gain noticable safe extra power.
In theory, you will also get a slightly quicker turbo spool up time;)

With regards to the EGR valve what we do is we "calm it down as far as possible". This has been our tried and tested route and it works the best.

Aidan, do you have proven dyno graphs of your tuned ECU?

And 5.0 power-train can handle 372/835?
Yes when done correctly. We would map them with the power distributed right across the rev range. In other words, there won't be just one big burst of power low done and nothing after that.
If the power is even to match the revs across the range then this allows momentum "to get going" to handle the power saving the flywheel etc.

Hope you understand what I mean, if you are unsure let me know and I will make another attempt wording it:)

Aiden, was looking for a tune that would put me at 500tq/ft for a 2010 V6 TDI with California emissions. Was also trying for 300HP if possible. What would be required for that and is it possible?

I've got the same request as 2010TDI, except I don't think the emissions regulations are as stringent in Canada. I actually live in an E-test free area of Canada at the moment. PM me when you have a chance. I think my ECU is EDC 17 with Bluemotion exhaust system, (225ps and 406lb/ft).

PM me when you can.

Thanks in advance!

For International Customers, I have an account with Fedex & UPS set up to collect your ECU at your location and bring it to me to have it remapped and / or DPF removal etc. It will then be sent back out to you.

This courier service will have tracking numbers and be insured.

Pending on your location turn around time will be as fast as possible. At most times 2-5 days.

I was thinking about flashing my ECUs with factory R50 maps. Do you offer this kind of service?
I only remap (flash the ECU's eprom chip) with a map thats been taken from your ECU and modified. I don't and never will do flash an ECU with a map that I am not 100% certain about
