Here's the newest available map update for the RNS850 North America Region:

Alternative source:

1. You can't find this archive anywhere in the internet, cause it's made by myself. It's a simple Audi MMI3GP conversion.
2. Databases are 100% identical with VW standard. There is no ingeration in originality of the databases.
3. This package status is CHECKED.
4. Don't use Green Menu, You need to use User Defined method.
5. Special destinations section (POI) will be empty, Special destinations online do work. They require internet connection of course, and to have them Google Earth must be enabled.
6. Don't ask how to upload it into Your RNS. There's answer for that in the internet.
7. If Your map won't work after 3-4 minutes after the update don't panic. It means You need to activate it. This scripts slays process which checks if the maps are activated. Here, it will make Your maps work:

or unblocker from DrGER:

8. Please RESHARE. If You've downloaded it and it's working, upload it to any possible server to share with other people. Even You can post alternative links in here. Don't let other people to earn money on this.
9. Have no knowledge if TMC works, but it should.
10. If someone is successful with updating, please don't be shy and let us know. If it fails, also please send a post.
11. Ths maps work for P0711 firmware and higher.
12. If You don't know what to do please ask for help. No shame in it, but don't be lazy.
13. Ths map is from 2021/2022. The newest means there's no other higher available version. Probably there won't be any.
14. Don't use MacOS to extract or upload Your files onto SD Card!
15. When You'll have 03623 or 03276 errors in 5F module after the update I can help fix them (one of them requires VCDS).

This is how to solve one error:

This is how to solve the other:

16. Use solid SD Card, not a microSD with adapter.
17. Here's P0711 firmware (for NAR - North America only):

P.S. Feel free to ask me any questions (except for stupid ones).

Thanks I shall look for that
@JMTreg:
There are some differences from Audi version, f.e. MapStyles folder needed a change and a database inside needs to begin with VW526_ in order to have a new graphic. Everything is edited in both metafile2.txt files. The Audi has MMI3GP folder, VW has VW name for second metafile. Touareg's 7P6 symbol at the begining of the part number is given in .pkg file. Once You edit it, the update of PKG will fail since it's signature differs. The best part is, that from some time original VW maps for AN (Australia and New Zealand) had 8R0 (Audi) begining. VW didn't seem to care to change it anyway...

To be clear: You don't need to rename ANYTHING in this package, should be plug and play. I have no knowledge of what changes were made in this 6.24.0 compared to 6.16.2 (V12) but I do believe that 4 years fresher maps will make a difference. It's 2 GB more of data...

@meggsy:
I'm not doing it for any donations. There was a comment for Aussies on the bottom of my first post in this thread to buy australian Audi maps for me, to convert it. But I managed to find them anyway, so I deleted that request, it became obsolete. And I made them as well.

@Lysy - Ok understood. Kudos for clarifying the file naming convention. As for the Activation code - I believe we’re on our own for that, correct? I’ll keep looking. Much appreciated, good sir!
If You've previously used an activator there's a chance You won't need one. If not, there's Keldo activator or any other, f.e. this one from V12 maps. Should work. There's a drawback to this. Using an improper activator will activate maps, but also might cause error 03623 in 5F module, during VCDS auto-diagnose it will pop-up. It does absolutely nothing, just is. But there's a cure for that also... FSC fix it's called. If anyone'll be in need, I'll help as well.

You need to copy those files from MEGA link into a SD Card and that's it.

I have the v12 activator from the previous update. Seems I'm good. Thx.
@Lysy, do you know if this file be used in a 958.1/2 (2011-2018) Porsche Cayenne system? Updates at the dealer are stupid expensive !!
It definitely won't work. Completely different system.
I kind of figure it was, but I had to ask. Thanks for the quick response !
It appears maps were successfully updated to latest version. Looks more modern.

Calculated risk. I had the previous v12 update downloaded and ready to reload if this had failed. Wondering... the POIs in this update look correct to you @Lysy?
The icons look exactly the same than they do in EU version. Still wonder what those three coloured cirles are (a cinema?)... The drawback (is / might be) that there's limited use POI as a destination. I mean in EU 6.35.1. Only POI online work as a target. I have no problem with it, just an observation from EU update, not a complaint.

What upload method You chose? Standard one?

Standard update following v12 PDF instructions. Took about 20 mins. No activation needed.
Colored circles: I'll click/touch it next time I'm in the treg and let you know. Got me curious too. Not sure re: limited use POI, I can click on any of the icons and get map info/directions for them.

On a related note: We know VW no longer updates NAR RNS850 firmware (K0711 latest), but there would be a way to remap the latest Audi Euro firmware to the NAR as you did with the maps?
I'm not with You with the last question; You want to know, if the convertion of the latest NAR firmware from Audi MMI3GP to RNS850 will be possible? The main VW system differs from that in Audi. I wouldn't mess with it as long the old one works. I can compare them, but there's no way to transfer it, I think.

Yes, that was the question about converting the firmware from Audi to VW and your answer clarifies things. I'll stick with the latest K0711 NAR firmware. Kudos!
The problem with firmwares is that they do work only within specified range of HW version of the RNS components. I think that latest P0825 EU firmware can't be uploaded to any older unit without a trouble. Maybe there's a newer than P0711 firmware somewhere in 2017/2018 NAR Touareg, but It doesn't exactly mean that it'd work with older units. This knowledge is unfortunately reserved only for VW factory employees, I think.

With maps it's different, cause Standard method checks version of all files from Your HDD drive. Only older files are deleted and then newer comes at their place. That's why I don't recommend deleting whole navi partition via Green Menu, just to update the maps. It's pointless and might be sometimes risky.

I applied the updated "fixed" (full ~15G) version. Maps weren't updated, only the MapStyle.

I was following the V12 map update instructions, which I successfully ran before. System detected that the SD Card contained NAR 6.24.0, however the update process finished in only a few minutes and showed that only MapStyle was updated. I tried a few more times. Each subsequent time it recognized that 6.24.0 was on the SD card, however nothing was updated (since MapStyle was already updated the first time).

Maybe I'm missing something, any ideas?

Currently on K0711 firmware, and still on NAR 6.16.2 maps.

Thanks!
@dabson:
Hm... I assume You used standard method?

It's possible that You'll need to use User Defined method to force this update. Start from the line:
"Insert SD card with Maps "

or:

@JMTreg:
Could You please check what version do You have after the update? (Setup -> System -> Version info)

My previous attempt was using the Standard method, that's right.

I just finished updating the maps using the User Defined method. The maps appear to be updated now, however I cannot search for POI any more (even though they show up on map view) and route navigation appears to be broken. If I try to start a route navigation, it shows Calculating Route then kicks back to the map screen. It doesn't actually start a route.

So I've got updated maps, I just can't use it for navigation. :oops:

Oh, I didn't have to activate, btw. It's not complaining about activation after the update.
Did You previously activated an Offroad navigation by any chance?
Did You carefully ticked all "application" in the VW_ECE section and those other four options? And after the update there were no errors? For VW_ECE and the rest everywhere was 'OK'?
Any Google Earth scripts You previously applied?
Any messing with Green menu?

The issue with the POI was mentioned above. But lack of calculating a route is not good :rolleyes:
