I have a 2007 Touareg v6 that won't shift out of park. The engine start but instead of going out of park I get the three warning lights attached the photographs listed below. One reads "SYSTEM FALT WORKSHOP!" Another shows a picture of a key. I've tried pumping the break but that just makes the break warning light flash. I've shown these photographs to my local VW dealer and their Touareg expert doesn't know what could be causing the problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

Not advisable to disable the park lock in this example, until you get a VCDS scan or even a common scan.

Have you tried a different key?
Reset ECU?
Vehicle battery voltage?
Oil underneath?
Recent transmission work?

I would pull codes via VCDS and see what it says. I have included a few links to other folks who have experienced this and there are a few common themes:

1) Battery dead or low
2) Brake switch fault (can't shift out of neutral...do you hear an audible click when pressing and releasing the brake...do your brake lights work?)
3) Water intrusion into wire loom...plenty of this on here. might not come from leak but water on shoes is enough over time...it is under drivers side carpet.
4) Some other switch or connection either causing a parasitic draw on battery and killing it or a fault in several other switches / sensors (get VCDS codes).
5) Have read of stepper motors doing this as well but generally accompanied by shaking while turning and driving before hand as the motor starts to fail.

Hope this helps:
