They could put a V12 in there but the XC90 still could not compare to the Touaregs off road capability, interior finish and features.

Its the Explorer engine. No suprise, the Volvo dealer told us as much.

When I started looking to replace my 12 year old Isuzu Trooper I went to a Volvo dealer to look at their SUV. When I asked whether or not the roof rack could fit my canoe the salesman actually said that I did NOT want to buy the Volvo because it had NO offroad capability. I said OK and left the lot without even getting into the truck (if you can call it that). Its a good thing I was only there to see how the Vovlo compared to the TReg. Obviously not very well in one critical area for an SUV.
