Hey guys, need some help. I just purchased a 2015 Touareg V6 gas. The car has 102,000km on it. I’m noticing a weird vibration that I can’t seem to get rid of.

when driving between 55-60km/h I feel a semi high frequency vibration coming from the rear end. It peaks at 58km/h. I have zero shake in the steering wheel when in this speed zone. The vibrations is all in the rear end.

So far I’ve balanced the tires twice. And even through my winter tires and rims on to see if it gets rid of the issue. With the balanced winter tires it’s slightly better but still very noticeable.

when outside of this 55-60km/h zone the car drives so smooth no issues.

any help would be greatly appreciated

To diagnose a mystery vibration from a a vague description is difficult.

Drain the oil out of the rear diff & replace it with fresh. Maybe a noisy bearing. Do the transfer box to. Test each wheel for play in the bearing.

Post a recording of the noise as that may help pinpoint it.

What have you tried so far?

Get the wheels road forced balanced and make sure to ask for the report. Anything above 15lbs will usually produce a vibration at Hwy speeds.

A few questions that might help us diagnose:
-Are the wheels all hub centric?
-what was the last service done to the car before the noise started? Any rear brake work etc?
-does the vibration change when under load or coasting?
-if you move to neutral during vibration is there any change?
-if you brake does it go away immediately?
-does the noise get louder during turns?
