Despite my Cosmo (boxer mix pictured) being smart enough to wear the shoulder belt, I really wonder about her safety riding only a mile or two from home as she joins me on local errands. (Yes, I realize there are pet-specific products to secure her to the seat belt but she travels crated on trips out of town for a myriad of reasons.)

The seatbelt is buckled because when she (only 46 lbs) is in 'just the right place' the 'bell' rings. (She gets behind the shoulder belt on her own as a result of how she likes to lay down in the passenger seat.)

Is there a culmination of vag-com expertise that could result in:
** the 'passenger air bag off' dash light never illuminating again
** the seat belt 'bell' not ringing when Cosmo rides as pictured
** the seat belt 'bell' not ringing when I transport items in the front seat that exceed the threshold
** the passenger air-bag remaining functional per factory programming despite light/bell configuration changes?
