I'm in Chicago. Sorry. You can get a cheap version on ebay. But they are limited in what you can do. I've done small things with mine. Turn off seatbelt chime, put the on/off for the drl on the MIL, turned off the tps warning, etc. It also lets you test modules and switches for diagnosis. Not bad for @$10.

What software do you use with this cheap cable? I"m only looking to turn the DRL and seatbelt chime off so spending $350 for the "genuine" cable seems unreasonable if this one can do the same thing. I looked at the sticky thread and it really doesn't "sell" the ross tech cable well enough. Looks to me like the cheap ones do exactly the same thing, I'm just curious what software you use?

Which listing on ebay? Will any cable work with it? Is it DRB II to usb? And will the software do a full scan of Treg? Im having a starting problem, signal to relay voltage too low to actuate relays to on state. and by the way what part of chicago are you?

Buyer beware with the eBay cables. I bought one a few years ago for my MkIV GTI and it would not work at all, I also tried it on my B7 A4 and Touareg. So basically it is worthless. Yet the seller had pretty good feedback and apparently they sell some that do work. YMMV

Buy the real Ross-Tech cable, use it, then sell it in the classifieds for a great price. No headaches.
