Hallo, I got a 2015 8 speed Touareg V8. It was all okay but I could some bit of difficulty when reversing. After a while, the Car couldn’t reverse at all but the forward gears were just fine .
I took it to a specialist and they opened up the gear box and we established there were broken pieces if the clutch disks. I can’t find the exact same gearbox to replace it; the option I have is an 8 speed V6 gearbox, will it work just as much in a V8 ? 🙏

No. At the very least, the V6 and V8 have different bell housings, but I'm also sure the gear ratios are different as well. Your best bet is to find a transmission with the same code

The V8 has different diff ratios but I believe the 8 speed transmission gear ratios are the same but not certain. It will have some different control module settings and maybe a different torque converter. But yes, best bet is to get the transmission code nmuber and compare to a V6

Thank you, in that case, might anyone have an idea where I’d get a new transmission for 0C8300038J (part Number)?
Alternatively, is it advisable to replace the clutch and not the entire gearbox?

Anyone had a similar issue?

🙏
