I'm about to do an oil and filter change on my 180kW 7P, and I've noticed there appears to be two ways to fit the oil filter (depending on the source):
1) Place the oil filter into the housing (top of engine) where the little nub locks into place, then secure the lid on top of the filter housing and tighten.
2) Place the oil filter into the lid until it clicks into place, then secure the lid (with filter) into the housing and tighten.
If using the second option, it is assumed the filter rotates with the lid as it tightens, then the nub drops into place within the housing.
Is one option preferred over the other?
