While I have my engine out I am very tempted to get a front exhaust section made to delete the cats (2004, no DPF)
{For off-road use only of course}

Because I like to have bases covered and options available, and for Justin Case, I want to make them to have the same 3-bolt flange in front of the second cat or DPF, so if it were to require a visual inspection (at sale time or similar) the secondary cat could be re-fitted and most likely pass a visual with flying colours. It's not like the primary cat is exactly easy to see anyway.

I've 3D printed some snap fit exhaust pipe dummies to set it out for clearances etc. I've put angle marks all over the elbows so I can record the set-out and recreate the pipes in 3D CAD. The intention was to have it CNC bent, but I needed to use tight radius bends to keep clearances up and line up at the top of the flex joint. (I want to retain the same length flex joint as factory - 6") so they will have to be fabricated.

Would anyone else be interested in a set of pipes like this?
Obviously mostly directed at Australian residents, but wouldn't rule out looking at shipping options for internationals.

I've attached the driver's side (RHD) exhaust as recreated in CAD and 3D printed for trial fit from the set-out tools I made.
Just a real quicky overlay in photoshop to check clearances, but you get the idea.
Short section of 2" into an adaptor to a 2.5" bend to the flex joint.

I believe for those without DPF, you will not 'need' a tune as there will be no errors, but the DPF people will have to do something to make the warning lights go away.

Deleting the cats means you need a tune. Check engine light otherwise

Yes I would be interested, thanks

Just finished pulling my manifolds off and downpipes tonight. Dropping them off at the shop tomorrow there gonna fab me up some downpipes and fix my exhaust manifold flex pipes.

I can post up here how it all goes when it's done.

I have put together estimated pricing for the full kit. (2x front section, 2x secondary), and it's coming in around the AU$1500 mark. (plus delivery)
Made in 304 stainless.
With qty I'm sure this would come down a bit.

Hoping to get a chance in the coming weeks start fiddling with knocking out the prototypes.

are there any updates on this? will this work on later DPF models too? I want to delete the DPFs on my rig.

So a year later and alot of issues I got my manifolds back from the shop. They look great thicker bellows. Unfortunately the turbos also had to be modified to make the newer bellows to work. After bolting them up the one lines up perfectly. The other is slightly off but when tightened down it's good. I think they did a great job considering they did everything without being able to mock it up on the motor.

The shop has my downpipes and they should be done shortly. Deleting the 😺 s.

When I get the downpipes back I'll share some photos. Hoping to try and get this thing back together soon. It's already been a year and parts are a nightmare to find.

Update got all the pipes back the manifold and downpipes have been ceramic powder coated to help with heat soak and keep it looking good. I have been reassembling everything and fixing replacing parts as needed. Also decided since parts are hard to find I replaced the powersteering pump which was leaking. Replaced the AC compressor, and starter for good measure.

here is where I'm at just waiting on some gaskets and washers that needed to be replaced so I can finish assembling and reinstall.
I also just realized that without the cats I don't need the fuel lines not sure if anyone has experience with messing with that but I could not find anything online about it. Curious if I just cap the line under the body if it will be fine. I already have a Malone tune so I assume it's tuned out.

Enjoy she looks good but I'm sick of searching for parts.
