Hello everyone, I have some great news for those who own a v10 TDI and are looking for a valve cover gasket. I've been searching the internets for over 3 years now on what I can do about my valve cover gasket leaks and as you all know that you can't get the gasket by itself l, you have to buy the white cover for stupid money. Well I'm here to tell you that I found the fix. Stay tuned and I'll post a video.

Nice find!
I don't even own the V10 but I'm curious if this replacement gasket works out with no leaks.

That's awesome, thanks! I just brought home my first TREG, a V10 with a serious engine oil leak from the rear of the right side cylinder head. I'll be doing the Tandem Pump rebuild as soon as the parts arrive, since a total lack of brake assist points me to that first. But it's great to see you've found a much more affordable solution if I need that gasket too! Every VAG V-type engine I've ever had has needed valve cover gaskets sooner or later, so I'm sure this TREG is no exception.

You might as well change the gasket while you are in there. You pretty much have to pull the same things off to get to the tandem pump as the valve cover gasket. I battled lots of oil leaks when I first got my v10. I pulled the engine twice on it. Replaced every gasket on top of the engine except the valve cover since I couldn't find one. I was able to eliminate almost all of it but the valve cover on passenger side is still leaking. Hopefully this gasket will take care of that and I'll be a happy camper.

Wish this info had come out sooner. I just spent $3,200US parts and labor to have the valve covers replaced on my 06 V10. $1,900 of that was for the replacement valve covers which I ordered from VW directly and waited 18 months to receive. Will definitely be purchasing a couple of these R5 kits and stashing them away for future use. Thanks
