I hate this car for checking oil level

sometimes gives a reading, sometimes not.

Ive read that the V10 tdi has a fancy oil pan with an oil level sensor and other flow controls to ensure the best level in any inclined or declined
state

Suggestions and opinions welcome

From my experience , the best way to check is to start the motor, run for say 30 seconds, stop it, wait a minute then remove dip stick to clean off anything on it then insert and remove to get the reading. Repeat to confirm. John

Take the dipstick out and wait a few minutes for oil to rise in the tube.

For the V10tdi cavitation causes Engine oil to stay out of the dipstick tube. Pull the stick, clean whatever remnants off and re dip for oil level.
