I was in need of the VW V10 oil filter wrench - VW tool T10192 which at the stealer runs $198. I did some hunting and found a more affordable alternative and thought others with a V10 might be interested in another option:

For $65 it sure is great to be able to change the filter without worrying about screwing up the cover. Here's a couple photos of the actual wrench:

The $200 one is no longer made. I think Snap-on took over the VW specialty program. I know mine came from snap-on

Lower cost wrench

Check out ebay UK, search for Laser 4435 Oil Filter Wrench 97mm x 9 Ribs. The new ones from VW are not too expensive. This one was less than $0 delivered and works great.

I ordered a new filter cap and filter wrench from Impex... the cap on the truck now has lots of claw marks from someone using pliers on them (which I did do the first time I changed the oil, but there were some marks there already).

V10 TDI Oil filter wrench for sale

I have one of the Laser 4435 wrenches and no longer need it as I have sold my much loved TDI ?. Posted on Craigs in Vancouver.
