She's old, but she's still running like a champ and I love my 2004 V10. Lately I noticed my MPG were down slightly and I had a loss of power on occasion. Finally I got a MFI error "Exhaust workshop" while accelerating. Ran a scan and saw that I had a mass airflow sensor (MAF) error on the right side (G70 MAF).

It had been a while since I changed my air filters so I thought I'd do that and pop out the right side MAF to give it a cleaning.I took a couple of pictures that might help another V10 owner should this come up on your car. I did change both air filters, but I only pulled and cleaned the right side MAF. It wasn't all that dirty, but the air filter was not nice. Left side looked much better, no idea why.

The initial steps to get at the MAF are the same as changing the air filters. Here's the right side air cleaner snout. Below that is the MAF sensor.

There's a pair of T30 torx headed pins on either side of my finger, each with a little tab at the bottom. These hold the snout onto the air cleaner box. You need to line up the pins with the little marker to get them out. It does help to push the shout in toward the air cleaner box while pulling the pins up and out. Pull the snout back to separate it from the air box.

I did also remove the adjacent hose just to get some additional working room. Just pull off the metal clip and move the hose out of the way.

On the back of the right side air cleaner box is a little hose that attaches to the air box with a "shark bite" like connection (there isn't one on the left side air cleaner). It should have a green cap on it but mine came off years ago. Disconnect this from the air box.

Once you have that shark bite connection off, unclip the two metal clips on the top of the air box and remove the inner half up and out of the way. Pull out the air filter.

Next to get to the MAF, you need to remove the tension clamp at the bottom of the snout.

Once that is squeezed together by a long needle nose pliers you can pull the snout and MAF out as one unit. If you take the clamp all the way off, it is a challenge to get it back on, but I have a solution!

Remove the two phillips head screws to separate the MAF from the curved snout.

Unplug the wire connection from the MAF by pinching the tab on the plug and pulling back

Now the MAF is separated and can be cleaned with Mass Airflow cleaner ONLY!!! Spray it down well and try not to touch any of the mesh or bits inside. Here's the right side part number.

Reassembly is the opposite, but a couple of tips. If you let the tension clamp come all the way off, it's very hard to squeeze enough to get back on. I put mine in a vice and compressed the tabs until they were about an inch apart. Then I put a long zip tie on to hold it together.

I was able to hold the zip tie tail and lower it down onto the hose below. Once I pushed the MAF/snout assembly back on the hose, I cut the zip tie to release the clamp.

When you reassemble the air box, be sure the three sets of fingers are locked into the three slots at the bottom of the air cleaner box.

The right side air box also has a little hose clipped into the inner half. You'll need to remove it to get the inner half of the box out, Don't forget to put it back into the clips.

Hope this helps someone else

Nicely detailed post with pics.
Should help a few people with taking care of their MAF problems.

Brava, Nancy! You must win some sort of longevity prize on this forum.
Be thankful your early model does not have DPF's and G450/451 sensors to worry about.
