Hi I have been working on my V10 and doing some research, I have just discovered that there is a fuel addative tank that has to be topped up with a special Addative that keeps the temprature of the DPF down when Regenerating, here is a picture of the fillers that are behind the rubber around the fuel cap and the info in the maintanence book etc ???
Does any body use this and have anymore comments ???

I have a V10 and was wondering how many V10 owners know about it ? I have had mine for 2 years now and have only just discovered it !!!
I went to the Dealer and they can get the stuff " VG 052 143 A2 " ÂŁ97 per litre, 5 litres needed to fill up OUCH !!

I think it may solve an intermitant issue that occurs every now and then. occasionally when I stop there is smoke coming from the bonnet on the drivers side " UK car "

Before anyone suggests it the Dual Fuel/vacum pump I have already done that. I think it happens when the DPF is regenorating and it gets to hot, this additive apparently reduces the temprature of this proccess by 150 degrees !! Thats why I thought my car was on fire the other day.

The special stuff that some V10s need is Eolys fluid.

It is also called PAT fluid.

It is NOT Adblu and there are plenty, including dealers, who have made that mistake!

The tank takes 5 litres and doses diesel as you fill up.

The fluid should last about 100,000 miles but it is also a service item and every 5 years the tank should be drained, the old stuff carefully and CORRECTLY disposed of as it's nasty stuff, and the tank refilled with fresh fluid.

The good news is that whilst VW charge an arm and two legs, it is also used by Peugeot/Citroën and can be obtained far more cheaply elsewhere so look at Amazon, etc..

ÂŁ65 for 3 litres for example.
