Hey guys
I am doing some research/possible interest into camshafts for the V10 and just wondering if supply from Australia for any V10 owner that has the inevitable lobe wear has any interest.
These cams would steel billet induction hardened and far superior to the VW items.
Current genuine cams in Australia cost $1600 aud ea or $820 usd from the USA.
These cams should be well under $1000 aud or $750 usd each but still working things out.

Instalments like most would probably not get approved by the minister for finance I am thinking lol

Just a bump for people who missed it .
Will follow up with more specific info in a few weeks.

As I said these cams will be the best available worldwide as I have been cam doctoring T1 & T2 cams and an aftermarket cam.
Hope also to understand if a T1 cam can be fitted to T2 as those who have listened to both know for some reason the T2 is quieter in the top end

First pair of Cams from my manufacturer to go into my V10.
Just in the lathe to check lift and runout is in spec.

Just as a note that was discovered during cam doctor checking of cams from the below engines.
- Genuine series 1 cams
- After market series 1 cams
- Genuine series 2 cams
- Genuine series 2 R50 cams
- After market series 2 cams
- R5 and 4 cylinder PD cams

VW use a solid lifter cam lobe ramp profile with a hydraulic lifter setup.
This is unconventional according to my cam guy who has been making cams for over 30 years and not a good idea by my online research.
Extract from Tighe Cams Australia website.
(Ramps: This is the slow acceleration section at the start and finish of most camshafts profiles. For solid cams the ramps may be as long as 15deg and 0.020" - for hydraulic cams this must be below 0.006" for the cam to function.)

More info will follow as I progress.

I see that it's an older thread but I was wondering if anyone can advise me which camshaft to buy. My mechanic said that my Touareg 5.0 TDI has developed a cam lobe wear and I need to get a possible good source of this camshaft. Possibly a pair of them. We have checked and I have the BLE engine code.

Im from the UK. Can you tell me prices for a pair? I've got two phone numbers of Touareg specialists and I'll try to talk to them today. Im not seeking the cheapest option but the most long-lasting solution.
