Anyone interested in a map updated loaner program?

You pay a deposit $350 (cost of new) for the maps and activator SD cards, and a small fee say $50 for the update for a week, and $25 for each additional week if needed.

When the cards are returned you get your refund back, and are only charged the $50 or more if you had it for more than a week.

The other thing I could do is a group purchase where people pay the $50 for the updates and I can provide a link for the map and activator downloads.
Note that the activator needs to be ordered by each vehicle...

What do you guys and gals like best?

Why can't you just offer to send someone the SD cards for a fee which would also cover your shipping costs/sd card costs and they can keep em. You keep your original ones.
Not sure how many people feel comfortable w/a $350 refundable deposit fee.

That's why I was also thinking the download option.
That way people can use their own SD cards for the update and then use them for whatever after the fact.

Saves me from having to burn and ship cards all over and people having SD cards that they may never use again :nerd:

The DL option is a great idea. I've seen others post this in other threads but it requires you to sign in to the file hosting site to which I had no luck.
I read other threads at length and someone posted a link to a guy on a popular auction site selling genuine VW software and map updates and the activation code on SD cards with instructions on how to use them. I just purchased them and will see how they do.
He only has one left and I can't post links for another 2 posts or so, otherwise I would link it.

Firmware DL

I'm new to the VW world and loving my '14 Touareg TDi Exec. Great forum too.

I'm wondering it you can PM me on where you received the firmware DL from. I'm currently running:

HN+_US_VW_P0711
8R0060884BD NAR 6.8.2

And would like to update the firmware and the map.

Thanks,

I ordered the update from a seller on Ebay. He had to have the vin# of the vehicle for the activation card. I received the update and activation card within 10 days, ships from Europe. I updated my unit in around two hours with no problem. Cost was $146.00 US dollars.

Yep that's the one I used. He's working with a VW dealership and the SD cards are authentic VW and the bubble rap they come in are VW pull codes. Funny how some guy in Europe can get help and sell VW stuff cheaper then we can buy here in North America. lol.

I downloaded a DVD image of the firmware off the internet and burned it for a quicker update via the dvd reader.

I also purchased this upgrade from the UK vendor a couple weeks ago. $140 USD and it worked great!

Well worth the update and far better than paying the dealer upwards of $500+.

Make sure you have a battery charger connected as this does take 2 - 3 hours depending on if you need the FW update. Mine only required the Nav as I was already at K0711 and it took nearly 2 hours.

Newbie here, so I can't PM. I'm interested in the Map Update; I have a new-to-me '15 Touareg 3.6 FSI.
Media version: HN+_US_VW_P0734
Navigation database version: 8R0060884CA NAR 6.10.2

Vehicle is currently in the shop; Hit a deer on the 3rd day and did various damage down the Driver's side. I'd be interested in the DL option if clear instructions are available.

I also purchased the NAR 2017/18 map update from the UK based seller. I already had a RNS850 firmware of P0726 so I did not purchase the K0711 update. I only installed the NAR 2017/18 map.
When I scan with my VCDS I get the 5F faults below that I would like to clear even though the RNS850 unit seems to function as advertised and a lot of local map updates are included. Just my over compulsive nature showing through again! I would also like to know what is involved to clear the codes. Thanks!

Hi all,
New to this thread, I have 2011 VR6 and defiantly due for an upgrade. I saw mentions of eBay sellers and instructions via PM. Would be helpful if you can guide me to where I can get the head unit RNS updates and also the map updates. Thanks for the help!
