TO ALL:

It seems I am having an issue, others have had a similar issue but I cannot find the results.

It starts on a beautiful afternoon when I found a OEM trailer hitch from a 2005 V8 Touareg, the same vehicle as mine. This included the Factory Wiring harness and the controller. I was able to secure it for $107.00. PERFECT. So it took me two hours to install after I stopped by the dealership to purchase the Porsche 12mm 1.5 100mm bolts as well as the technicians data sheet to make the correct connections.

This was the perfect day, I now could get rid of a ****ty work truck and buy a small trailer for the mowing company, save on gas, and insurance etc. This afternoon I filled the gas tank with Premium fuel 93 octane, it was below 1/4. I woke up drove the TREG to work the next morning. Still perfect.

Now here is where the turn came. The TREG sat all night long at my work. I went out to the car and put the key in the ignition, nothing different from many times starting except this time the starter was engaging but the car not starting. I had just filled it, Oil is in it and recently changed. Gas cap secure as well, just in case. Now I was worried that it might be the towing controller, so I immediately disconnected the connection. Still nothing. I made sure that the fuses were all good. Nothing bad. We connected a error computer, there are NO error codes. NOTHING. UGH

We took started fluid and sprayed it into the air intake, IT STARTED RIGHT UP, so it is getting spark. The car was going into the garage for timing belt replacement in 2 days, (I just got the timing belt lock and all the parts are in and on hand). Popped the cover for timing belt. It is still rock solid, looked great. Remember it started with starting fluid and ran for like 10 seconds.

Now the forum offers several options. Take the Negative off the battery to reset the computer, put new batteries in your keys, its the kessy, install a new battery, etc etc.

We did take the negative off of the under hood jump connection and the car started right up but then would not run and shut off after 5 seconds, then right back to trying to start. This car is BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT IN ALLLLLLL WAYS. not a scratch, ding, dent, NOTHING, the hitch was the cherry on top for me. (my only gripe is VW decided to rubberize all the knobs and buttons and some are starting to wear) till now.

PLEASE HELP. ANYONE. SUGGESTIONS???????

Removed and replaced Fuse 41 on Left side, second row up, 4th from left. Left out for 10 minutes, still nothing.

Plan of attack:

1) I will try the Black ground again from under the floor board.
2) I am going to try and take the Negative off the battery to see if it resets the computer. Someone suggested taking the positive off the battery and it worked for them. Maybe I will try that after I try the Negative.
3) Replace the Battery as it is starting to fade after multiple attempted (short) starts. As it may be original?
4) Cry (just a bit) Men are not supposed to CRY. But I love this car. (almost as much as the 911 Targa I had when I was single)
5) Have it towed

Attempted one fix. Removed Fuse 41, (second row up, 5th From Left 5 amp fuse). Left out for 10 minutes. Still no start.

Now I have a plan of attack.

1) Disconnect the ground cable under the floor.
2) Disconnect the negative cable on the battery and reconnect?
3) Disconnect the Positive cable on the Battery and reconnect?
4) New Battery and install
5) CRY (I know that we are not supposed to cry but I love this car. Almost as much as my 911 Targa when I was single)
6) Fuel filter
7) Fuel Pump
8) Tow it to a mechanic so I can pay lots of money.

1) Disconnected ground, still would not start. Reset everything.
2) Opened up Battery Compartment, Disconnected ground, reattached, Still nothing,
3) Battery looks as if it is dead now. (no battery dummy light. Original battery as well.
4) ready to hook up battery powered jump pack to keep power to the system.
5) Off to buy a new battery. fingers crossed.

Next issue that came up while doing this. We put the vehicle in neutral and rolled it 50 feet from the parking place into a garage to work on the TREG. Now there is a indicator on the MFD that shows a vehicle going down hill. I cannot find information on it.

UGH
