I also came from a manual and find similar. I find the behavior while stopping especially odd - as while coming to a stop it feels like the transmission "releases" abruptly at around 10mph, causing me to need to suddenly increase brake pressure to compensate.

It's equally vague up, especially below about 10-15mph. Sometimes it seems to engage 1st/2nd very firmly, other times it seems to really slush them out.

I dunno, seems about par for every auto I've ever driven though.

For those of us with keyless/push button start. Can anyone clarify ACC/ON vs start? I've seen some directions that indicate the states in order to perform them, but there are no marks on the actual vehicle to tell me what 'state' I am entering.

Got it, so that is 'ON' state. I thought that was considered 'ACC' state - how do you reach ACC then?

Thanks - thought I had read the manual fairly well, but apparently not. Subarus were a bit easier - put key in and turn - there are no features.

If it makes anyone feel better, this is my first VW, and while there are stupid VW things, I certainly can't say they're any different than stupid Subaru things. Or worse than a BMW cooling system. Or a Merc suspension. They all have their BS.

Indeed, also gave it a go - noticed that it eliminated the weird 'letting go of the gear' around 10mph thing. Braking is a whole lot more predictable now.
