This accident is estimated to have occurred at between 140 and 171 kph = 87 to 106 mph. The Touareg dug itself 7.2 feet into the back of a truck. There was no rollover.

The left hand side of the Touareg is intact; i.e., the passenger side absorbed 100% of the crash forces. Specifically, the passenger-side A and B pillars were demolished.

The car accident was during the early morning of October 16, 2007, at 6:20 a.m., on the Zagreb–Lipovac highway near Nova Gradiška, Croatia. Two survivors, one dead. The dead was the front seat passenger in the Volkswagen Touareg. The Touareg crashed into the back of a truck and then into the median barrier, killing the passenger instantly, crushing the third vertebrae of the neck, although the truck sustained no damage. The passenger was asleep in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash. Of the other two, only the driver suffered serious injuries (head trauma).

Crashing at high speed into the back of anything is likely to have serious consequences in any vehicle.
