I suggest you use the Search function on here, read up on the threads about changing the transmission fluid and then start again with someone who knows what they are doing.
Has he even used the correct fluid? It certainly doesn't sound like he's used the right quantity or possibly even understood the need to get the correct temperature set up for the fill.
A new box for a Touareg is about £5,000. The ATF change is not something you hand over to a mate to do who doesn't know what he's doing.
