Weight won't be an issue. Tongue weight can be depending on setup... if you have a generator and other stuff out front, if it's single or dual axle, etc.

That will push you over the rated tongue weight, and make the egg squat.
If the v8 has air suspension, go for that. Otherwise, figure out how to rear mount the genny or you won't like the stance.

 

Looks like the V8 does have air suspension. The power plug is on the tongue side so I’d like to keep it there.

 

You will need to rearrange other stuff to balance the generator weight and keep the tongue weight and rear axle load within specification for the particular car you select

Looks like the tongue weight limit for a Touareg is 617lbs. Wouldn’t that leave me under the limit? 431 for the propane and generator (I’m assuming the cage and the weight of the tongue itself are under 200lbs? Assuming 617 is RVK be rated weight what would i want to max out at?

 

Weigh the tongue weight at the expected hitch height . Not all weight added to the tongue is automatically all tongue weight. Some goes to trailer tires. There are expensive and cheap scales. Can you put the generator inside whilst travelling, preferably between the two axles?

 

Unless you actually weigh the rig once you've got it you aren't going to know what's what and therein lies a big risk.

So don't rush into this with spending some time on the idea and don't rely on assumptions!

What length of journeys will you be travelling to sales sites?

The V6 Diesel has the 7-pin connection.
not sure if the v8 does.

 

Diesels are not good for repeated short journeys like that.

Buy the V8. It makes a nicer noise too!
