I found myself in a very similar position, ZR1. After test driving a model with a back-up camera, spending nearly 2 hours negotiating, and putting down a deposit, the dealer made zero mention of the feature deletion. It wasn't until I was home doing follow-up research that I discovered it was missing. Rip-**** pissed is understatement.

I would imagine my anger/frustration rivaled yours - in this day and age, there is no excuse for a feature like this to be missing from any modern luxury vehicle. I understand parts shortages happen for any number of reasons, but for VW to delete it altogether and not at least make it ready for a retrofit is simply unacceptable.

So, I unleashed on the dealer and gave them three options to avoid terminating the deal:
1. Find an exiting model that has the feature installed
2. Pay for and install a 3rd party or similar back-up camera (with a link to Kufatec part)
3. Credit me the difference on my monthly payments to acquire and install the hardware

After hemming and hawing and saying it was impossible, the dealer crumbled with "miracle" story about magically finding a "more advanced" back-up camera in "New Zealand" that costs "$1250." They refused to eat the whole amount, so we agreed to split the hardware cost and they included the cost to install. I have a feeling they jacked the price up to cover their costs, but at least the "impossible" was made possible.

Not perfect (we shouldn't have to pay more for this feature), BUT I love everything about the TReg and would hate to walk away from the whole package. I would be a lot more miserable if I had no choice...and no back-up camera.
