07 Touareg 3.6L - cant get the PRNDS block to read what gear the truck is in.
Here is what I've done so far:
Replaced Gear position selector (neutral safety switch) and wire harness from gear box to neutral safety switch. Replaced the whole assembly inside the car for the shifter, checked magnets, replaced PCU board on shifter. Fixed broken wires under driver side wheel well carpet and also on passenger side. I've cleared codes with VCDS multiple times.

MFI shows every gear until I get to drive. Its not in limp mode because it does 80 no problem and shifts through all gears. I've even tried to glue the magnets in the shift selector module to make sure the pass over hall connectors.

What am I missing? What else could be missing the communication between the shift selector and MFI. Tiptronic does not work - but i dont really care much for it anyway. I just want this block of PRNDS to disappear!

I have a couple ABS codes but i dont know where to start with that. Any suggestions? I've read post after post and none of the fixes i've read have worked for me. Brand new battery

I was recently getting this error on my 05 and the PRDNS would be highlighted. I had never seen this before. After a restar, it would go away, but then come back during a drive. It happened after I opened up the steering column to install paddle shifters. I didn't have the wiring on me at the time. I don't know why I was the getting because I had not disconnected anything at all. After getting the wiring (2-3months waiting), I installed it and I never got the error again and my PRNDS has been clear, showing gear. You said your tiptronic isn't working? Maybe this

I bought that exact assembly and replaced it - no dice! I do not have paddle shifters but maybe your right and I’m missing a wire under the dash somewhere

Well, the wire was only to connect to the paddle shifters to the transmission. Doubt that is your issue. But in the thread link I posted up there, someone disconnected and re-connected a plug under the steering and that got rid of this error. Not sure if you have tried that yet.
