I've got an appointment in a couple of weeks to take our Treg in for it's first 10K mile service.
Shortly after we took delivery, it developed this annoying squeak / rattle / plastic on plastic knocking like sound. It's really kind of hard to explain what it sounds like. The best thing that I can think of to describe it is; have you ever ridden in a car that has a styrofoam cup in it that's rubbing on the cup holder? Every little bump in the road or twist of the vehicle, and the cup holder is squeaking on the cup. It's that sound, but it's not nearly that load. In fact, it's not really loud at all, but just there, and it's just kind of there all the time. I know that it is DEFINITELY coming from the passenger area somewhere, door or dash (or both), and the drivers door, and rear doors are fine.
I've sat in that seat and rode for miles, listened, and I can't figure out what it is, let alone even where it's coming from. It sounds like it comes from all over when you're sitting over there. It's weird.
Anyone have any tips that they've used in a situation like this to help figure out where the sound might be coming from, and if I can't figure out what is myself, any tips to pass on to the dealer so that they find it?
I have a bad feeling that the dealer is going to say, "Well, we can't figure out what it is" OR "We didn't hear it" (which would be a lie, because it's pretty constant). And, if they can't figure out what it is, then they're probably just think that they can let it go, and I'll be happy with that answer. No. Not gonna happen.
One good thing, it's colder now, and it actually appears to be a little more prevalent now that it's colder, but that's really hard to tell. It's definitely there most of the time.
