Hi,

I have a V10 06 and I don't have deep pockets. Depends a lot if you have a good mechanic that fixes and doesn't just replaces blindly.

Before you buy go and do a check at the VW dealer. (don't do the repairs there)

Major problems:

- any major repair for the engine and around it usually means an engine drop.
- turbos and control arms
- air suspension and compressor can fail (you can find repair kits to lower the cost)
- electrical problems like the ground strap from the generator and the wiring in the headlights
- gearbox valve block

and a few more, any car that old has problems

I have my car for 1.5 years and the only major repair was an oil leak on the tandem pump (40 euro parts and 100 euro labor, found a shop that did it without taking out the engine). The annual service was about 250 euros ( 12L of CASTROL EDGE PROFESSIONAL VW LL III 5W30 is the main cost).

Depends a lot if you like to tinker, but if you buy this car I recommend a Ross-Tech VCDS interface (sometimes a simple plug or sensor can fix your problem).
