Ok guys, my up date incase someone can be helped by this.

I had the dreaded " FAULT Running Gear Workshop "

I had posted it, and Ians Toureg had helped me somewhat.

I went to a high end Auto Shop here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada eh?

The said they spent 2 hours for the diagnostic, and this is what they found.

Someone had used a Black ZIP TIE to hold a
" Level Control Sensor Linkage "

The Fancy ZIP TIE, broke so the sensor linkage, came away from the Air shock on the passenger side.

The computer sensed the problem and shut down the compressor to stop it from burning out.

There was also some leakage I noticed afterwards, I believe it was just a coincidence.

The truck parts were ordered, and supposed to be at the shop this weekend, for Monday.

1) Part for Right FRT Level Control Sensor Linkage # 7L0616214C
$ 135.00 for one.

2) Two, FRT Air Strut Pressure Valves # 7L0616813B
$ 225.00 Each

The high end shop said,

1) 1.2 hours labor for the one Sensor Linkage
2) And 2 hours labor for the 2 FRT Strut Pressure Valves.
Total Labor 3.2 hours

The VW Dealer said,
1) 2 hours for number
2) 2 Hours EACH SIDE = 4 Hours!
Total 6 HOURS!!!

The high end shop put another black ZIP TIE on it while they get the parts to do the job Monday.....and it works fine now.....LOL

Any Questions and especially Advice is appreciated,

The Radio is still screwed, and the Am radio advances still at 9 Digits at a time... I checked all the settings, and found nothing to change this issue.

Unless someone has replace the USA radio with a European one???

One of the member suggested I go into the settings and see if I can change something...

???

Anymore help on this AM Radio issue? The FM is fine...

ONE more thing....

How could a HIGH END qualified Mechanic take 2 hours doing a Diagnostic when the FREAKING Zip Tie, I would have found, in about 15 - 20 Minutes.. its right at the top on the AIR SHOCKS in PLAIN SITE.....lol

WTF?

10 min to find the problem, 110 min to make it look like they were trying to find the problem?

I regret to say that in all probability they would have plugged their computer in and then stared at the screen whilst playing with their knob - er, sorry, the computer buttons...

RE: AM radio, on portable radios, sold internationally there is a "dip switch", usually located in the battery compartment, for changing between 9 KHz and 10 kHz tuning.
But here:
17-Instruments: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.
Recoding for chime and warning lamp preferences:
[Select]
[
17-Instruments]
[Recode - 07]

Write down the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding for future reference.
Enter the new code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding. Look at the fourth digit in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.
0 - No available equipment
+1 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+2 - Seatbelt warning active
+4 - Washer fluid level warning active.

Look at the fifth digit in the coding (Market version):
1 - "Europe" (No Navigation system acceptance screen, also see 56-Radio for other changes)
2 - "USA" 12 hour clock (Navigation system acceptance screen)
3 - "Canada"
4 - "UK"

Example: If you have all of the above warnings active and your car is set to USA (and your factory Soft. Coding is 0007231), if you would like to remove the seatbelt warning, subtract 2 from the fourth digit to make the coding 0005231. If you would like to keep the seatbelt warning, but remove the Navigation acceptance screen, then change the fifth digit from 2 to 1 to make the coding 0007131. If you'd like to remove both the seatbelt warning and the Navigation acceptance screen subtract 2 from the fourth digit and change the fifth digit from 2 to 1 to make the coding 0005131.[

and:
56-Radio: -- KWP-2000
VCDS works fine.
Important Note: If you have recoded 17-Instruments from USA to Europe, this may change the way the Radio operates in Navigation-equipped vehicles. This does NOT seem to apply for vehicles that use the Premium VI radio without Nav, in which case a different radio is used for US applications versus European applications. Note that Europe uses different specs for their radio compared to North America.
FM:
FM frequencies in Europe are spaced .1MHz apart, compared to .2MHz in North America. This causes no problems in using a Nav Plus in North America, it just means you can tune into some frequencies (such as 92.2) which don't exist here. Since it can tune into all the North American FM frequencies that do exist, it works fine.

AM:

AM frequencies in Europe are spaced 9kHz apart, compared to 10kHz in North America. Europe also does not have AM Stereo, so the Nav Plus does not support it. This DOES cause a problem. It means you can only get "close" to some stations when trying to tune them in. It may sound a bit like an AM tuner when you turn the knob just off station, but if you are an AM audiophile, this may be an issue for you. If there is a particular AM station you like to listen to, you can calculate if the Nav Plus will get close in frequency. Simply start at 531kHz, then add 9 kHz until you get close. For example, if you have a favorite station at 660Khz, the closest you can get is 657kHz. The most a station will be out by is 4kHz.

Those valves can be purchased for under $100 each from air-suspension-shop on eBay. They take about 10 minutes per side to replace. I just replaced both of mine. You can do it yourself with a floor jack and a $20 socket

RE : RADIO AM

The Am Radio station I am looking for is 680 I think the closest I get is 684.

Its not close enough and theres too much static.

FYI, there are no codes saying anything about the radio, I just noticed it after I bought it and it kind of pissed me off.

RE: PARTS

I will check the battery compartment as mentioned above...

I am thinking I might have to OBLIGATED to pay for the parts, since they ordered them already...

I cant do much less than that, because my RICH Boss and his Dad..

I work for take their cars there and I cant screw the ppl they recommended.

Unless I can have the parts Cancelled before they get them in, as they told me they were getting them in yesterday ( Sat. March 28th )

I called on Saturday and spoke to someone about 3 pm and they hadn't seen them by then.

I knew I would be screwed by the Dealer, now I just found someone else to do it!!!

Now I don't know what to do...

Maybe just pay for parts and find someone CHEAPER on the LABOR?

CRAP!

I have to start here with my problems than doing what I have done in the past.....LOL

Thanks for everyones help...!

Re:RE; Portable radio, I was just referring to the average "carry around" type, and their battery compartment, not your car radio.
To change your area settings there is the VCDS software from Ross-Tech, via the OBD socket, or pay the dealer to do the necessary with their diagnostic equipment.

Might just want to let them do it, and then next time learn not to take it there. also it looks like you are in canada, so I'm not sure differences in costs up there.

The $20 part was a special socket snap-on makes to remove the air valves.
The valve itself is ~$100 or less, from air-suspension-shop on ebay, you have to email him for the valve itself... the shocks are for sale on ebay

WAIT....

lol

It probably is Much Cheaper in the USA.

The lowest I have seen was about $ 107 t0 $ 139.. and then I have to wait for it.

I looked at a diagram of the Front Level Control Sensor it appears STUPID EASY, there's a electric plug to plug in and 2 little screws that the bracket mounts to the truck.

I think I will wait on the Valves and get them myself from the USA for $ 130.00 and save $ 200.00 in Labor from the HIGH End Shop.. and find a cheaper labor to install them.

The High End place can charge me restocking fee and return the Valves OVER Priced by over $ 100.00 EACH.

( $ 225.00 each compared to $ 130.46 each )

Thanks Keith
