Man, I heard it was golf ball sized hail. Any pics of the damage? It does give you an opportunity to come up with something different paint-wise.
1st, before painting make sure a professional PDR (painless dent removal) can't revive the existing scenario. Google PDR hail damage and read up on it. A repaint, unless done by a real professional will never match the level of the original paint. Everything needs to be removed (especially for a color change) - door handles, side mirrors, roof rack, lower rocker side trim, chrome reveal moldings, rear hatch spoiler, windshield - just to name a few!

I've seen some PDR work that you wouldn't believe what the vehicle looked like before. Also you could do a combination of PDR and have the hood replaced...

A custom paint job is going to be a hard sell later unless it looks OEM - it will likely only bring attention to the vehicle being previously damaged.

X2...

Full professional color change paint job could easily run $10K...and I've also had great succes with PDR.
