Noticed a clicking or clacking noise on the way home from a WA day camping weekend. sounded a bit like a CV? but seemed to be speed dependent. By the time we got home it was worse at 90 to 100 kph and was vibrating. climbed under for an inspection, everything seemed ok except for the rear tail-shaft joint it makes a clacking noise when moved. has anybody replaced one of these? I could not find any posts here.

the centre bearing and tail-shaft have been replaced recently ie 2 or 3 years ago, but this old mate looks tired.

So a local shop reckon they can match the CV if I take it in to them.
or do i just bite the bullet and get a whole new shaft?

looks like a new tail-shaft. The rear CV was $600 ex Germany and a new complete prop-shaft was $900.
Hopefully get it fitted next week.

fitted the new shaft today, dropped Rosie off to them at 9.00am
around lunch time they phoned to say they got the old one out but were struggling to get the new one in.
finished it at 4.30pm.
felt a bit sorry for them but only wanted $200 for fitting?
thanks Allan's CV Joint Osborne Park.

Looks like you got off easy! And have found a good honest shop, too! :- )
Yes pretty happy, it seems to go ok. Hopefully it will last a while.
I would like to rebuild the old one if I can find the right bits.
Does anybody know where I can get the CV joints, centre bearing and Guibo seem easy to get?
