So I am posting this as I couldn't find a step by step procedure and I had to figure this out on my own.
This is a two step process. First you need to enable the function with the VCDS then you have to turn it on in the infotainment unit under settings.
First things first, open up VCDS, plug the cable into the ODBII port, then:
1. Click on Select button under Select Control Module.
2. Select Module 46 - Central Convenience
3. Wait for the VCDS to do its thing then select the 07 - Coding button:
4. In the window which pops up select Long Coding Helper:
5. In the window which opens you'll see a series of bytes in hexadecimal format in the third row, aptly labeled 3). The byte numbering starts with a zero so the third byte from the left is Byte 2. Click on that.
In my car only two boxes were checked. To enable window up/down function as well as sun roof open/close and the ability to open/close the sunroof cover check off all boxes as seen here (the check boxes didn't come through on the screenshot, so basically check off all but the first box, bits 1-4, the ones with blue lettering):
6. Click on exit in the top left of the window.
7. Click on Do It!
Now the VCDS part is done. Next step is to put the computer away and turn your attention to the infotainment system.
8. Click on the CAR button
9. Click on Settings
10. There is now a new button available called Remote Control Key, select that.
11. You have options for front windows, rear windows and sliding sunroof, click on whichever you want to function with your Keyfob.
12. You're done. Enjoy.
