So the steering wheel we are purchasing is an R steering wheel? And how did you decipher the German website info. Of the various links posted I see a wide variety of prices (I think) and I don't want to screw it up! Can you give us an idea how long it took you to get your wheel?

Gee, I am so excited I can't see straight! Woot!

I got my steering wheel from this user on ebay.com; delivered in less than two weeks. This one does not have the heated function. $340 seems about right for new.

Thanks, TDInDC. I'll keep searching. I am looking for a heated black wheel. A quick search of EBay using your supplied part number only yields wheels with airbags for $850.

I'll try to search German EBay that T-Reguan recommends. But the language barrier is a challenge. They "seem" drastically more than $340 but I really can't tell what I am looking at.

I think I'm getting closer!

Brad,

See my post #9, this is the one you want (R-line and heated), the other ones are with airbags included. I bought mine from that seller over a year ago and it seems like TDInDC did too. The guy is genuine and ships fast. Good Luck!
Thanks for all the help!

^^^ That's very cool! I want to do this mod in the worst way. Can you provide a link where you got the steering wheel from? Is your interior black?

Please post updates as to how the coding goes. I would be interested in knowing any specifics.

Thanks in advance!

If you look at the posts above or on the previous page, you will find links to where others found theirs. A few posts up from here (#51) I posted a list of all the different model numbers for steering wheels.
Ah, skipped right past that. Thanks!

Found another way to tell the car go back to automatic. Hold + for 3 seconds, it will return to auto. It's slower than using the shift knob, but this is more subtle.

Also, I'm trying to retrofit heated steering wheel on my Lux. I bought my steering wheel with heating elements. But the clock spring does not have a port to plug into. I'm wondering if I can change just the clock spring from 4H0953568F to 4H0953568H since I don't want to change the steering module 7P6953507L, which may involve re-calibrating the ABS module.

A new clock spring would give me the pins the heater needs and I would just need to bypass factory wires and get the power directly from fuse #11.

I'm going to test if module 7P6953507L is capable of showing the steering wheel heating icon on RNS850. This may allow me to control fuse slot #11, which is the power to the heated steering wheel in a "factory like" fashion even it's getting power directly from fuse box. If 7P6953507L cannot be coded this way, then I will just put an external button to control the heater...

more to come...
Thanks for the research. Anxious to see what works out. I also have a heated wheel (Exec TDI) now and am anxious to get the proper parts to add paddles.
