Wondering if anyone has looked into retrofitting either of the nice ROW features to a NA execline (TDI).

Area View
- would be so nice. Huge difference navigating parking lots between the lux and exec here given the parking sensors and camera. Area view would greatly ease parking especially for my wife.
- Seems to me the Kufatec area view kit includes a rear view camera that we don't need and is pretty $$$ (the used one from ebay is gone gone gone)
- I would expect that the supporting electronics minus perhaps the wiring is already in place, but not sure.

Adaptive cruise
- I suspect would need the sensor and lower fascia trim. Not sure what else. A control module perhaps?

Side Assist
- new mirrors; I'm guessing the ones with the area view camera will have the required warning LEDs. Probably need radar sensors in the bumper. I agree with Greg that the B-pillar interferes with shoulder-checks/visibility

Comfort/Convenience tailgate
- you lucky devils in the USA seem to get this to, so ROW becomes EWBC (everywhere but Canada). I'd bet this is the easiest to retrofit with a motion sensor of some sort under the bumper.

Has anyone attempted one of these? I'll post whatever I find out, but I suspect each is a bunch of work. Combined they would make the TREG a properly outfitted luxury SUV. Shame we don't get these even as options. Heck, there were 2009s here in .ca that got side-assist, kessy and adaptive. Thanks for removing these VW. MEh!

In order of importance, I would love to add the area-view first but I know this one is going to be expensive. Maybe I should start with the more simpler such as the foot-wavy hatch open feature.

What region is area-view and foot wavy feature available on the Touareg? Interesting in researching part numbers/prices...

My understanding is that the USA gets the foot-wavy feature for 2013 execlines. Not confirmed though. That's what got my hopes up for the feature here north of the border.

Not to get carried away, but it would be nice to retrofit "Area-View", "Side Scan" and possibly "Lane-Assist". All of which appear to require a new mirror assembly. At least it is offered in the UK, so I can continue to read parts websites in the UK to compile a parts list.

EDIT: I misread, the lane assist uses a camera in the rear view mirror....

Hi Toughluck - if you can find the required parts, I'll be all over this as well.
Not sure if the area-view mirrors from Kufatech would have the right equipment for lane assist (you mention the rear-view, not the side mirrors, but that seems strange)? If so, that might allow us to kill a couple of birds with one stone.

Hello T-Reguan

Could you look-up part numbers for the foot wavy component under the rear number? I guess it is a new feature for 2013 Executives...

On a completely random and unrelated note, the 13 Audi Q5 mirrors look so similar to the Touareg mirrors...

re: Mirrors --- interesting. This would be grand as the # of Q5s sold eclipses Tregs. More of them means more parts for us means (potentially) lower prices, more sources.

Ok, so far I found following parts that are needed to retro the "boot lid":

1- Sensor: 3AA-962-243
2- Sensor Line: 7P6-962-239-B
3- Cable Holder: WHT-005-450
4- Contact Housing With Lock Mechanism: 4F0-973-705
5- Corrugated Pipe: N-107-324-01
6- Foam Insert: 7P6-807-573-A
7- Cover Strip: 7P6-807-533

There may be other parts needed such as module, not sure but will try to research more

Hi All,

Any update on the wavy foot tailgate retrofit?

VERY curious.
Thanks!
