Hi All,

I am new here and not a motorhead so please be kind ✌

I bought a used 2007 Touareg 4.2 V8 with the AXQ engine. I understood this was a old vehicle but I wanted a V8 and the body and interior was in excellent condition. I knew there would be some mechanical issues along the way but nothing that couldn't be fixed in time.

I took the vehicle for a test drive and it was smooth and didn't have any doubts of not taking it.

I've had the vehicle for three months now, had to change the EGR valve and fuel pumps. It's driving well but has slow acceleration in normal mode, in sports mode you really feel the difference. Fuel consumption is extremely high, I tested on the highway and did a 20km drive, my average was around 33lper100kms so not good at all.

Yesterday while cleaning the engine bay, I noticed a part on the centre block just above the cam belt missing/broken. After taking pictures and trying to research, it appears to be the other half of the intake manifold vacuum diaphragm.

My googled picture image 1 shows this part with a rubber housing
The other two pictures 2 and 3 is what is on my engine

Those those are vacuum activated pods that move the flaps in the intake…

You need to buy new vacuum pod -> 077-198-327-A -> Link

That’s how the should look when working:

Sometimes their shafts can get stuck and prevent them from moving, maybe thats how you ripped yours.
If that’s the case you need to disassemble them and clean the holes with a brush wire (i used dremel tool). If that won’t do it you can dm me for cnc version if them (you can read more here -> Link

Also there are upgraded versions of the plastic links and levers -> Link and Link
