OK. This happened one other time and I chalked it up to a freak occurence, but now it happened again.

I am driving on the interstate, cruise control set to about 80mph. As I go up a slight incline I hear a repeated clicking noise in the steering column or in the dash area right above the steering wheel. Then boom, "System Fault Workshop" on the MFI, and the differential control knob lights start flashing. I pulled off the interstate, turned off the Treg and started it back up, fault gone, everything normal. No other symptoms or problems. It did not come back all day even with a 2 hour return trip, however I did not turn on the cruise control.

Any ideas? Do I need to be concerned? Is the clicking noise in the steering column area related to something with the cruise control that could be causing this? Any info would be appreciated.

Happened to me the dealer replaced the rear stepper motor and the battery a week later because it happened again. All under warranty. Have no idea what the noise was that you heard.
